Well we’ve had a very productive morning this morning – we’ve finally finished all the day wedding invites! ….. Only the evening ones to go! I also heard from my mum that she has finished the fruit cakes for the wedding cake and they are maturing nicely – apparently! Clever Mummy!
We were able to pick up our rings today from Earnest Jones in Lakeside – it was very exciting! I absolutely love mine but I have been banned form wearing it!! Unfortunately, Kev was a bit disappointed with his and it doesn’t really fit him properly so he has decided to take it back to get a size smaller! Kev also made appointments with Young’s to get fittings for the wedding suits. We thought it’d be really complicated what with everyone living in completely different locations, but it turned out to be fairly straight forward – thankfully!
Today I went with my two “older” bridesmaids Jo and Jade to a bridal shop near Peterborough to find the perfect bridesmaid dress… After searching for months through wedding magazines and on the internet, I finally found exactly what I was looking for. Jade and Jo tried on numerous dresses (I was quite jealous!), and it eventually came down to two. So after much discussion and debate between the three of us (also taking into consideration what would look nice on Madeleine and Catherine), we made a decision and it is definitely the right one! Finally its all starting to come together!
Its quite handy having lots of time off work! I finished my job at Sussex University at Christmas and will be starting my new job here in Essex on February 18th. This meant today I could go to the flower shops with Kevin’s mum and dad who have very kindly offered to pay for the flowers. We found the perfect florist not too far away from us who can do what I want, and were really helpful with suggestions and ideas. We don’t need to officially order them until about March, so I’ve still got some time to think about it.
Today we travelled to Lakeside to have a look around for wedding rings. Kevin had a vague idea what he wanted. I, however, was proving more difficult due to the shape of my engagement ring. In the end I found the perfect ring in Earnest Jones (which happened to be the same shop as Kev’s). They even had it in my size, but we decided to order a brand new one anyway as we had to order Kev’s.
Well, 2008 is now upon us and suddenly there seems like we have 101 things to do, and not enough time to do it in! Everyone seems to be saying not to let the stress get to me… I’m not sure how I’m going to manage!!
It seems a long time ago that we first booked our venue - October 2006 to be precise – and even then we got the only available Saturday in the whole of May and June! (For those of you who don’t know, we needed to book the wedding at this time of year for it to coincide for when my brother and his family would be visiting from Australia.) The next thing I then did was to dress shop (which is lots of fun, so I recommend it to anyone!) I found my dress in Diane Silverosa Bridal shop in Rayleigh, and ordered it in October 2007. I am currently awaiting my second fitting.
